Maryam Keshavarz (born in New York, United States) is Iranian-American filmmaker. Keshavarz studied Persian literature at the University of Shiraz before turning to filmmaking. She has a B.A. in literature and women's studies from Northwestern University and a master's in Near Eastern studies from the University of Michigan. Her short film, The Day I Died (El Día que morí) won the Teddy Award in Competition Short Film section of Berlin film festival in 2006.
