With Kaabil releasing soon, here's a Hrithik Roshan appreciation post.

Scheduled to release on the same day as Shahrukh Khan's Raees, the adrenaline definitely runs high for this one. With मोहेंजो डरो not being the show-stopper it was touted to be and Bang Bang being a poor copy of the Mission Impossible series, will Kaabil finally redeem Roshan's movie choices? Let's take a look at his past box office hits and misses.

Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai

One of Roshan's earliest memorable roles and a clear hit in the box office. Also Ameesha Patel's last commendable movie but nobody really talks about that. Directed by the senior Rakesh Roshan, the film featured Hrithik in double role as Raj and Rohit. Here's Hrithik in his full chocolate boy avatar as he successfully embarks on his Bollywood career.

Na Tum Jaano Na Hum

Back when Esha Deol was still a mainstream actress and Saif Ali Khan was chosen for roles of a casanova. Times gone, indeed! Released in 2002 (That's 14 years ago), here we see Hrithik still developing as an actor.

Fiza

A semi-hit at the box office, very few seem to remember it. Possibly one of the last roles by Karishma Kapoor before she let her sister take the crown and herself disappeared into oblivion, only to be revived occasionally for Sabyasachi photoshoots. For a change, we actually get to see Hrithik display his kills and play an angsty young man as opposed to the prince on white horse.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

How can we forget to introduce Karan Johar's 3 hour long saga in this list! Ignoring the paper-thin plot, let's just say the entire purpose of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor in this film was the add eye candy and star power. A box-office hit, it was certainly one of Hrithik's more successful roles commercially, if not personally.

Krrish

Ah, the movie that everybody loved until it went ahead to reincarnate itself three times! But finally, Bollywood had a proper superhero movie to its credit and Roshan happily went home bagging several awards.

Agneepath

A remake of the 90s film, Hrithik Roshan admitted that this was his hardest film to date and rightly so for we see him in a serious role as Vijay Chauhan in a movie with an applaud-able plot and commendable acting.

Kites

Another father-son combination that did nothing to increase India's repertoire of movies and rightly so because there is only one word to describe this romantic thriller: T E D I O U S. And it's not only because of Barbara Mori's wooden acting or continuously shifting from whether it wanted to be a love story or a thriller, but because of the plot that could be cut with a cake knife. Certainly not one of his better roles.

Jodhaa Akbar

Historical romance - a genre Bollywood didn't really excel at until the arrival of Bajirao Mastani on the scene. Even then, kudos to Hrithik for playing the part of Emperor Akbar to elan.

Guzaarish

Why this film didn't do well, we'll never know. With a ravishing Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik at his best, perhaps it was the slot pace that put people off. But personally, Hrithik shone at his best with this role.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Bollywood doesn't do coming-of-age comedies better than this one. Meeting critical as well as commercial success, this film adds one up on Roshan's repertoire as something more than just a pretty face.

Bang Bang

Let's just pretend like this film never happened. And even if it did, let's just pretend it was an independent film as opposed to a Mission Impossible adaption - because to that standard it certainly doesn't hold up.
With a mix of both the good and bad, let's wait and see what Kaabil has in store for us.
