While cinema halls remained closed this year, people still didn’t hold back from watching all kinds of films and I reckon the next year’s going to be anything different. So keeping all your best interest in mind, here are some exciting films that’ll release in 2021.

2020 has come to an end and it is that exciting time of the year where everyone speculates what the next year is going to be like. Since 2020 has been like a dystopian nightmare, people are enthralled about the coming of next year. While some have already speculated that nothing will change, others are a bit optimistic. I fall on the latter side of things. This whole year has been bleak and the only source of happiness for a lot of people (including me, duh!) have been movies. While cinema halls remained closed this year, people still didn’t hold back from watching all kinds of films and I reckon the next year’s going to be anything different. So keeping all your best interest in mind, here are some exciting films that’ll release in 2021.

10. Shakun Batra’s Next (Starring: Deepika Padukone, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Pandey)

If you are wondering why this untitled film is creating so much buzz and who in the world Shakun Batra is? I have three words for you, ‘Kapoor & Sons ’. This 2016 film, starring Alia Bhatt, Fawad Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah, and Sidharth Malhotra, became one of the most successful films of that year and has since gone on to become one of the most talked-about films of this decade for its brilliant writing and direction by Shakun Batra. Only two films old, Shakun Batra, has made a name for himself in the industry and this is why people are excited about his third film.

9. Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (Starring: Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta, Jaideep Ahlawat)

The reason behind the film’s huge buzz is Dibakar Banerjee. He is directing a feature after almost a gap of 5 years. In his career spanning two decades, he has directed some of the best Hindi films and has made a name for himself. His films are considered gritty, realistic, political, witty, etc. Another major reason for the huge excitement behind Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar is Varun Grover who has co-written the script with Dibakar. Varun is considered as one of the best contemporary writers in the Hindi film industry, best known for writing ‘Masaan ’ and ‘Sacred Games ’. The trailer of the film was released in March of this year as the film was slated to release at the end of March but due to the pandemic, the film will now release in 2021.

8. Maidaan (Starring: Ajay Devgn, Priyamani, Gajraj Rao)

Maidaan is an upcoming Hindi biographical sports drama based on the life of Football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim. Ajay Devgn will play the lead role along with Gajraj Rao and a ton of talented actors in the supporting roles. The film is being directed by Amit Sharma, whose last film ‘Badhaai Ho ’ became one of the most hugely successful films of 2018 which made him rose to fame. The film is slated to release in the August of 2021.

7. Sardar Udham Singh (Starring: Vicky Kaushal, Banita Sandhu, Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala)

Sardar Udham Singh is a biopic based on the life of Udham Singh, a revolutionary freedom fighter who played a pivotal role in the Indian Freedom Movement. The film has attracted quite a lot of buzz because of Vicky Kaushal, who will be playing the lead role of Udham Singh. The film is being directed by Shoojit Sircar, who is one of the most sought-after filmmakers in Bollywood having made films such as Piku and Vicky Donor All this makes Sardar Udham Singh, one of the most exciting films of next year.

6. Takht (Starring: Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor)

Takht is one of the most awaited films of 2021 because of its subject matter as well as its tremendous cast which includes prominent names such as Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, etc. The film is based on the life of two Mughal kings, namely Aurangzeb and Dara Shukoh, and the battle they fought to gain control of India and become the next Mughal emperor. The film is being produced and directed by Karan Johar. The film is slated to release in December 2021, around Christmas.

5. Atrangi Re Starring: Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, Sara Ali Khan.

The film’s first look was unveiled in October and since then a lot has been written about it. Not much is yet made public about the film except that it is a love story. The film is an A.R. Rahman musical that stars Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. The film is being created by the hugely successful writer-director duo, Anand L. Rai and Himanshu Sharma. This due have previously made hugely successful films such as Tanu Weds Manu, and Raanjhanaa. The film is slated to release in February, next year.

4. Sooryavanshi Starring: Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif

Sooryavanshi is the next film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe which includes hugely successful films such as Simmba and Singham . Sooryavanshi’s trailer was released in the March of this year and crossed 100+ million views in a matter of few days. The film has been pushed to release next year because of the Corona pandemic but that hasn’t stopped people from eagerly waiting for it. The film stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. Akshay stars in the film as the head of ATS, which stands for Anti-Terrorist Squad.

3. '83 (Starring: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Hardy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani)

83 is a biographical sports drama that encapsulates the life of the famous Indian cricketer, Kapil Dev. The film has been in the making for quite some time which has made people grow all the more excited for the film. The film has a tremendous cast in place with Ranveer Singh playing the role of Kapil Dev and Deepika Padukone playing Romi Dev. The film is directed by Kabir Khan, one of the most successful Indian contemporary filmmakers of India whose previous works include Bajrangi Bhaijaan , Ek Tha Tiger, etc. The film’s first look was revealed in January this year as it was slated to release in December but the film has been pushed to 2021, due to the pandemic.

2. Laal Singh Chaddha (Starring: Aamir Khan, Manav Vij, Kareena Kapoor Khan)

Aamir Khan is known as Mr. perfectionist in the Hindi film industry for his interesting and creative career choices. He is probably one of the few superstars who carefully nit-pick his projects which is why his films always create huge buzz before release and Laal Singh Chaddha is no exception. The film is the official adaptation of the classic Hollywood film, Forrest Gump . The film has a tremendous cast in place with many prominent actors such as Manav Vij, Kareena Kapoor, Sharman Joshi. Laal Singh is being directed by Advait Chandan who has previously directed films like Secret Superstar. Laal Singh has been written by Atul Kulkarni who is again one of the greatest talents in India.

Brahmastra is the most anticipated Hindi film of 2021 because of the huge bag of talent that it holds in its pocket. The film has been in making for a long time and has been written and directed by Ayan Mukherji, the young filmmaker behind hugely successful films such as Wake Up Sid. The film is a science-fiction that takes huge inspiration from various Hindu mythological stories. Ranbir Kapoor plays the role of Shiva in the film while Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Brahma in the movie. The film was slated to release on Christmas this year but has been postponed to 2021 because of the pandemic.
