Meghna Yadav reviewed Pink
You are probably living in ignorance and denial if you are not affected by pink. This powerful movie directed by Anirudh Rai Chaudhary, is a piercing indictment of deep set hatred and prejudices, misogyny and injustices which women across India bears on daily basis. The movie says more than just emphasising on the fact

Sushant Singh Rajpoot is impressive as Dhoni. He got the body language and a cricket down pat.His expressions makes the character's frustration palpable as we see him trapped in a job of raliway ticket collector.Graduating to bigger things and a terrific performance by the protagonist showing a refusal to be swept away by small successes is praiseworthy. What dissapoints at a time on hindsight is that, movie appears like just a calender of events from Dhoni's life. This happened, that happened,he fell in love with this girl that girl, never a logical character study.Infact director Neeraj Pandey only stucked to reverential portrayal of the character without touching the controversies that did happen with Dhoni. It trudges down to a predictable and boring stuff in its second half but that does not mean the movie does not work. By pushing the right buttons and winding up the movie with Dhoni's terrific performance in world cup, your chest will swell with pride as you leave the theatre:)

Revisiting themes of abiding friendship and unrequited love again nearly after twenty years, this time Karan Johar displayed it, armed with maturity that comes with time and age. Working well within the environment that best suits him, that is wealthy good-looking NRI's, which are far away from tribunals of normal folks, Johar's craft is sensitive, whose biggest strength unarguably are its two leads,Ranvir and Anushka. These two characters are displayed bound by cheesy Indian songs from 80s. Anushka's deep affection remains firmly platonic for Ranvir. Aishwarya being unvanquishable villain, has dellivered lasting impression within her limited screen time. The actress conveys volumes in her last scene with minimal lines. In the end it is Ranvir Kapoor who is earning accolades and walks away with top honours, there is not one emotion in which he skipped a beat be it funny, emotional, sad or confused. The director had shown the emptiness in Ranvir's heart despite he has all the materialistic posessions which is palpable on-screen. If a movie transcends the boundaries of cinema ,this one has done it with emotions. Although the second half drags, the key to remain invested in the movie is by engaging in its characters. Karan Johar knows how to give a soft tissue cry when the lights come back,it is the art that has remained with him even his grammer has changed.

The girl on the train adapted from runaway best sellar, author being Paula Hawkins is a fairly gripping suspense. The only problem with this movie is that it does not hit the high notes in the way Gone Girl did to which it will inevitably be compared with. That film benefitted in a great deal because the visuals of creepy atmospherics were pure gold as far as cinematography is concerned compared to this flick. The story revolves around "Raechel" who is lonely, doomed, alcoholic girl, whose life has spiralled out of control after her divorce from "Tom" played by JustinTheroux. While she commutes, she stares wistfully at the house she once shared with Tom,whom she still calls and talks much to the annoyance of his new wife "Anna" played by Rebecca Fergueson. She also stares in the other house of a seemingly perfect couple whose life she becomes obsessed with. One day, she finds "Megan" the lady of the house kissing a man who is not her husband, and Raechel takes the betrayal personslly filled with booze-fuelled rage.Next morning when she wokes up,she finds herself totally blacked out only remembering the news of Megan's gone missing and finding herself beaten. From here the film takes the whodunit style. The narratives are really compelling and it does not make much differnce if one sees the movie without reading the novel.Voilent, dark and never easy to watch, this movie is not a perfect movie but a very watchable one.Do give it a chance.

It was a movie one would only watch when one has a lot of free time and "no other option".This movie is running only because it has eye catching foreign locations .People are tired of seeing such things now.We don't want deep messages everytime but such cliches are not digested anymore. With shallow protagonists, film tries to make all efforts to appear effortless.Totally predictable ,only consisting of swaping saliva and ending in a melodramatic falling in love .#waste of time and money#stupid#silly
