The girls steal the show!
A coming-of-age film about young people and their world of relationships where passion clashes with emotion, love clashes with friendship, sentiments clash with pragmatism. Gautam(Saif), a womanizer falls for the benign Meera(Diana) while the bohemian Veronica(Deepika) struggles to seek his attention, mistaking his act of sleeping with her to be love. These young people reside in a world where expressing oneself is as difficult as understanding oneself. They try to cope with reality with compromise, sacrifice, obstinacy and indifference.
While the benevolent Meera cannot make her legally wedded husband fall for her,Gautam cannot refuse Veronica. Veronica does not want Meera to be unhappy, while she does not want her to live without love. It is wholly complicated, only to be untangled in the end,by Veronica. Pretty realistic, less mushy, and loaded with feet-tapping music and lush locales,Cocktail is a heady concoction which leaves a happy hangover.

Entertaining. Leave your brain at home.
A typical 'fight the goons-get the girl' story with Chennai present through its culture and Kerala through its locales. The presence of Rohit Shetty is vividly felt through the wreckage of cars and the juicy dialogues. Thoroughly entertaining, Chennai Express ticks all the right spots required to earn crores n the box office-a successful masala-movie maker,a superstar,a top heroine and the true essence of rural India, essence of a road movie,an item song. If you aren't a fan of masala movies, watch it for Deepika. Natural in her portrayal of the Tamil girl, she is unbelievable in her performance. She overshadows the Khan in her natural act.

One of SRK's best performances.
Based on the life of Mie Ranjan Negi, Chak De India is a film not just about sports but the dignity and spirit of a sportsman. Kabir khan,a hockey star, who is Muslim by birth and played for India, once unfortunately committed a mistake in a crucial match which made him garner the title of 'Gaddar'-a backstabber who plays for India and lets Pakistan win! Chak De is the story of Kabir Khan, the man who proves his detractors wrong through a long arduous journey.
Kabir khan coaches a women's hockey team and wishes that they participate in the women's hockey world cup. The first difficulty is selecting women from various states with various backgrounds and creating a harmonious team out of them. The strict, dour and introvert Kabir Khan who has been nursing the wound of being called a traitor, spends every drop of sweat to make his team stand a chance at the championship. After a series of unusual struggles and obstacles, the team finally wins the championship and Kabir's tainted dignity is redeemed.
A heartwarming tale of loss and regain,Chak De is beautiful in its storytelling and the performance of each and every person in the cast. Shimit Amin's direction renders a crisp flavour to the movie, without making the theme overtly sentimental despite dealing with a sensitive issue. Shah Rukh gives a stellar performance, and so does the girls of the Indian Team.

Racy.
Pretty much similar to the plot of Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment,Match Point has a protagonist who is a thorough social climber who kills an old lady deeming his interests superior compared to those around him. His mental anxieties, the guilt and his responses are quite similar to those of Raskolnikov's,yet pretty different in the way Allen has depicted him as a modern day man. Chris (Rhys Meyers) is man person whose every action is driven by a greed for money and his motives are interrupted by lust-he commits mistakes and relies on his luck to escape the aftermath. A thrilling screenplay with strong performances,Match Point is worth several watches.

Lush and seductive, yet a tale of hidden melancholy
A typical Woody Allen movie,VCB is very lush and enchanting in its portrayal of honey-tinted summer, picturesque Spanish alleys, and the languid pace of life doused in wine, arts, culture and lovemaking! A tale of two friends, Vicky(Hall) and Cristina(Johansson) who go to Barcelona to spend a holiday, fall prey to the seductive beckoning of love and shimmer of a different life in a strange city. The two women are different from each other in terms of their understanding and beliefs and their responses to life and situations are different. Yet,they are victimized in the same way and are dizzied by the circumstances. Juan Antonio(Bardem) a painter becomes the seductive force which beckons the ladies to discard their reservations and rationality. He is the evil, attractive, serpentine element which lures them. Contradicting this action, the character of Maria Elena(Cruz) descends as the rash voice which constantly tosses the characters into reality but owing to her state of mental imbalance, reality is thoroughly ignored until it hurts.
With a hidden tone of loneliness, and melancholy that realization of reality bestows upon us,VCB is a very good story presented in a very attractive manner. Blending of narratives with brilliant locations and stellar performance from a attractive star-cast,it is one of the most commercially successful Woody Allen movies.
