A little dissapointing
This movie had so much potential to be an Indian Top Gun. It could have been improved with proper pacing and focusing on main scenes instead of irrelevant scenes and using songs to move the story forward. The death of the villain was unsatisfactory.

A fun masala movie
I watched the extended cut of the movie. Based on the extended version, I can see several elements of south Indian movies of early 2000s including the villain, emotional back stories and the climax scene. Overall, a fun mindless masala watch.

An excellent movie showing patriarchy with a humorous twist
A great movie about the patriarchy women face in their daily lives unwittingly or wittingly. It added elements of humour to it along with a serious topic. I can completely empathize with the main female protagonist and how her preferences are never taken into account.

Beautiful documentary about chimps
A close look at the life and societies of chimps in Ngogo forest in Uganda - their lives, fears and rivalries. It was interesting to see soceital differences in different chimp groups in the same forest.

It was beautifully narrated, showed close up of chimps' lives. It was so beautiful that I could cry.

An unnecessary tragedy
Good - It was so refreshing to see actors and actresses without excessive make up, filters and with their real skin textures which is missing these days.

Mithuna was quirky and not a typical main lead which I liked.

Music was nice and the screenplay was good in several scences.

Bad - I could not understand how all the characters fell in love with each other. Surya basically stalked Mithuna and they stopped suddenly and she fell in love.

Too much sacrificing of one's lives which was totally unnecessary.

Excellent acting though lacking in nuances
Excellent acting by all the actors. The story was portrayed very well from the viewpoint of the mother and the trauma she went through. However, the portrayal of the other side was outlandish and not nuanced enough including the Sweden Norway border crossing. It ended up becoming a us Vs them issue deprived of nuances.

Disappointing
Good - The acting was nice. Some of the explanations about mythology were nice. Some of the music was great.

Bad - Terrible CGI made me feel like I watching was 1980's TV series. The fight scenes did not seem to be choreographed well and seemed laughable. The story line was not smooth - it seemed like they spent too many minutes on unnecessary things and too few on critical moments. It did not engage me enough because of this.

The plot line was made unnecessarily sexist and could have been retold in a better manner without casting so much blame on Shakuntala and shows how they look down upon her. The audience doesn't need a dialogue to remind us about what Shakuntala did wrong and nitpick on her.

The movie is named after Shakuntala but little is explained from her point of view. She is a passive person in the chain of events where everyone uses an opportunity to criticize her.

For example, the dialogues said when the priests from Kanva Rishi's hermitage leave Shakuntala in the King's court, when Kashyap tells Shakuntala, you brought the curse upon yourself etc.

Watchable. Could have been better with a tighter story line.
It was watchable with some funny moments. On one hand, the problem depicted was genuine where family members reject brides/grooms for the silliest reasons and the person cannot get married. On the other hand, it was sad that he was preferred among all the kids because he was a boy.

A gritty drama with action in between
The storyline was decent though too gritty later on. I wish the kid was just kidnapped and later rescued. The beginning of the movie was realistic but I wish they had some other scene instead of perpetuating a fear of dogs. The story could have done with more finesse. I liked the realistic houses they stayed in instead of fake sets.

Watchable with a standard trope
This was a standard trope of 2 best friends falling in love. Dhanush seemed to be moonlighting in his previous acting skills whereas the other characters had better characterization and acting especially Nitya Menon
