Mohalla Assi is a 2018 film starring Sunny Deol, Sakshi Tanwar and Ravi Kishan in lead roles.

This film had to be released a long time back. But it fell into the nets of CBFC, which rejected to certify the film. It already was bearing these shocks, until the film was leaked on the internet. And then it was postponed indefinately. But then it got a green signal, and it finally made to the theatres in 2018. A long exile!

Plotline and Screenplay:
The plot follows the adventures one might encounter in the holy city of Vanarasi, or here I should say Benaras, through the lives of a priest, a con man, and some other quirky characters, in a very satirical and humorous way.
The film looked more like an adveture diary, where you go on reading the story. It was because of the screenplay, which had its focus on the city and its people. There was no political commentary in the film. I liked this way of narration, to actually depict the common life without any political interference.

Acting and Direction:
The cast has done an impeccable job. They just landed themelves into their respective local characters, with the right tone and accent, and I didn't find any snags in that. This is an impressive task. Kudos.
Chandraprakash Dwivedi has done a marvelous job in capturing the heart and sol of Benaras. The Pandits, the Con-mens, the ladies, the foreign scholars, each and every nuances has been paid great attention. The Abuses might have been a controversial thing, and I agree to thta, but it's just for providing some taste to the film. I think without the abuses, the film might have become a bit dull.

Music:
The music has been inspired from folk music, and I didn't find it that good, but a bit below Okay.

Verdict:
You can surely watch this film, for its satire, humor, abuses, and the performances from the whole cast. I found it enjoyable, and you should do.

Best Scene:
According to me, the scene in which con-men potraying Lord Krishna abuses Sunny Deol's character was the most humorous in the film. I don't know how many times i watched that scene.
