Really good and interesting Bollywood hate-to-love movie. Some echoes of Romeo and Juliet as the two families are pitted against each other in the local elections, one family is Muslim, and the other Hindu. Parma is the youngest grandson, and extremely hot-headed and impulsive. The opening scene has him torching the warehouse of a gas merchant to "teach him a lesson" for selling fuel to the opposing family. That gets him a slap upside the head from his grandfather. Zoya is also the youngest of her clan, and she first encounters Parma when he is urinating on her father's election poster at her college. She confronts Parma, and doesn't flinch an eyelash when he points a gun right at her forehead. That fearlessness captivates Parma and a romance begins.

After a secret wedding, Parma does something truly despicable which causes Zoya's life to unravel. Despite her bravado, she was naive to think her family would accept her marriage to a Hindu. I'm not sure I would have forgiven Parma myself, but it was fascinating to watch debut actor Arjun Kapoor try to change himself for Zoya.

The closing lines of the movie display a message that thousands of Ishaqzaade (Love-crazy) interfaith couples in India face violence from their families.
