The initial premise of Boardwalk Empire was about the beginning of prohibition as seen through the eyes of Nucky Thompson. Season five, the final season, is about the end of Prohibition and it's about bringing Nucky's storyline full-circle. Season five will premier on September 7, 2014 and consist of only 8 episodes as opposed to the 12 episodes in previous seasons. The final season of Boardwalk Empire will be set in 1931. Needless to say, a few things have changed in Atlantic City.
