The Politically Ravaging SAG Awards,2017

By Parth Agrawal | 624 |

Amidst the new legislative memorandums passed by Donald Trump, the biggest backlash it received is from the vocal film fraternity and SAG Awards were no less than a modern rendition of 12 Angry Men with an unanimous decision against the ban. Amidst all the controversies, here are the winners from the night.

The 22nd Screen Actor's Guild Awards

The Yays!

Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Ashton Kutcher presented the award to "Veep" star Julia Louis-Dreyfus before mispronouncing her name (Lois Lane Conundrum). In her acceptance speech, she spoke about being a daughter of an immigrant who fled the persecution of Nazi-occupied France. "Because I love this country I am horrified by its blemishes," she said. "The immigrant ban is a blemish and un-American." And to add to that, she did her best Trump impersonation merging with her character onscreen.

Mahershala Ali
With a stellar performance and riding on the road to oscar, this was all but a preparation for Mahershala Ali for the big one at the Academy Awards later in February. From Remy Danton in House of Cards to flexing his acting chops in Moonlight, he certainly has come a long way.

Emma Stone
Another Oscar stronghold player this year, she completely owned the Best Actor (Female) category with the her imperfectly magical work in La La Land .

The Nays!

Orange is the New Black
With the cast's expressions on the announcement of the awards right down to the camera panning to The Big Bang Theory stars, this was one of those forgettable award categories that nobody seemed to be giving a dime worth of attention to.

Stranger Things Ensemble Fiasco
Beating Game of Thrones, Westworld and other bigwigs is no joke but somehow the Stranger train keeps chugging and the speech by David Harbour had everyone emoting in stranger ways.

Ashton Kutcher and his awkward opening act
In the most cringeworthy moment of the show, Ashton declaring himself a “citizen of the world” started the ball rolling for the evening full of political remarks. The statement,“Good evening everyone at home, and everyone in airports that belong in my America. You are a part of who we are, and we love you, and we welcome you” made by Kutcher was one of his worst performance which even ranks lower than his failed stint at Two and a Half Men.
Winona Ryder summed up the event in the fraction of a minute worth performance while his co-star gave the acceptance speech for Stranger things
