Oh! You Hypocrite.

Do you know Bollywood gifted us India's first mystery musical adventure film in the form of जग्गा जासूस ? "Do you remember how it felt while reading Roald Dahl and Harry Potter? The same happens while watching जग्गा जासूस". This commentary is full of spoilers, hence, read it only if you have watched it or not in the mood to watch anytime soon. This is specially dedicated to the latter kind of audience.

Disclaimer :- I am not against the western culture. I just want to urge people to encourage Indian Cinema.
The huge critical appreciation doesn't quite reflect in its Box Office collections. What's the main reason? Simple, WE INDIANS. We don't like what we don't understand. Meanwhile, when I was going through the comments section of a post, I found people calling the movie a blunder, shitty, hugga jasoos and what not. There are thousands of people who really loved it and even watching it the second time but thanks to all the hypocrites who are not giving it a chance to stand. Wait, why am I tagging them as hypocrites?

Salman Bhai Fans

Welcome to the world where scripts are a must in every film. Wait, Salmaniacs won't understand it. Taking nothing away from Bhai fans, but the way they react is pure hooliganism. Examples are given below. Half of them didn't watch it, but still they spread negativity for no reason. Correction-There's a reason. Most probably well scripted movies are not their taste. They are the ones who believe in only two Tigers-Ek zinda hai aur ek aa gaya hai(Only if you get the pun).

The Prejudicial Social Media

Let me inform you, that there are many posts on social media which are comparing जग्गा जासूस and Munna Michael. I mean, WOW! Have your tastes gone so down that you are panning a spectacular film and posting "Desperately waiting for Munna Michael. A sure shot hit it would be." Let's take an example now. Tamasha went through the same fate when it was lauded by one and all who understood what real cinema is, but the B.O. collections weren't speaking enough. Social media started trolling it(as it was confusing and not everyone's cup of tea) without knowing its merit. Negativity resulted in a commercial failure. Today, it's been tagged as one of the most underrated movies of Bollywood. It is referred to as one of the cult classics. So now, why all this? Why spread negativity against a film even before its release? Why can't we accept good films?

The Quasi-Intellectual Audience

1. How many of you preferred to watch Maa over Spider-Man: Homecoming ? Only a few. But, Bollywood is crap.
2. How many of you preferred to watch जग्गा जासूस over War for the Planet of the Apes ? Only a few. But, Bollywood is shit.
3. How many of you preferred to watch Munna Michael over Dunkirk ? Strangely, the number is big which shouldn't have been the case. Half of the audience don't know the latter's name, which is saddening.

A musical like La La Land, despite having a weak storyline, is universally accepted by one and all including India-why? Only because it is helmed by Hollywood, we have to term it as 'class'. Everytime, we look down upon our own movies just because they are remakes of Hollywood but when they do the same thing, it is a proud moment for our country. Don't forget that films like A Short Story have such awards in its kitty which many Hollywood directors still dream of. So please don't judge Indian Cinema after watching a few crappy movies. If you can't give a chance to the deserving, it would be better if you shut your mouth. Why such hypocrisy? Why can't we show confidence in Indian films?
Some things would never change

A Catch-22 For Indian Cinema

"English sirf language nahin hai Raj, class hai class" - Hindi Medium . So true. Many people don't even know who Chester Bennington is, still they post "RIP" just to look cool. The same people were silent after the deaths of, say Yash Chopra, Om Puri, Manna Dey, Rituparno Ghosh, etc. It really hurts to see movies such as Munna Michael, Tubelight, Happy New Year, etc. earning crores and masterpieces such as Haraamkhor, Trapped, Raman Raghav 2.0, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, etc. struggling to find audience.
We aren't independent. The West is ruling us even today. If we change nothing, nothing would change.
