Movies Awaiting Us In 2018 Apart From Superheroes and Sequels

We had earlier in a listicle, already discussed on the wonderful movies waiting for us ahead. However, if you had noticed there was a lot of superhero and sequels on that list. For those who are looking for feature-length drama, here is a list of such movies awaiting you in the coming days.

1. Mary Magdalene

Directed by young Garth Davis who is known for his episodes of Top of the Lake which won many Emmy and BAFTA nominations, Mary Magdalene is about the biblical character Mary who joins with Jesus in the movement of Christianity. It stars Rooney Mara as Mary. The last movie of the director was critically acclaimed.

2. Ophelia

Ophelia is one strong female character of Shakespeare who was caught between loyalty to the queen and her desire towards Hamlet, the crown prince. How would Hamlet look like from Ophelia’s perspective? Well, watch the movie to find out. The movie is directed by Claire Mccarthy and stars Daisy Ridley as Ophelia.

3. The Irishman

Guess What? The next Martin Scorsese movie is waiting for us. The movie titled Irish Man is expected to be released in 2019. IT is a biographical crime film starring Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci among others. Well, what more can you ask for? The movie will be released on Netflix.

4. The House That Jack Built

A psychological horror thriller film, directed by Lars von Trier is expected to be either the best movie of 2018 or the worst. A weird combo indeed. It has Matt Dillon and Uma Thruman in the lead roles. The movie is about Jack a serial killer.

5. The Death and Life of John F. Donovan

10 years post the death of an American TV Star, a young actor looks back at the written correspondence he had with her. Bella Thorne, Natalie Portman, and Kit Harington are in the lead roles and the movie is directed by Xavier Dolan, known for his feature film “I Killed My Mother.”

6. Unsane

A young woman faces her greatest fear at a mental asylum. She isn’t able to recognize if it is her imagination or the reality. A horror film directed by Steven Soderbergh will star Caire Foy and Juno Temple in the lead roles.

7. First Man

A biographical film on the first man on moon Neil Armstrong, this movie is directed by Damian Chazelle. His last film La La Land was critically acclaimed and won him an academy award for best director. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone will be seen in the lead roles and the movie is based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil. A. Armstrong.

8. Widows

Based on a TV Series of a similar name, this movie is directed by Steve McQueen, known for the movie 12 years a Slave. It’s a heist thriller and stars Michelle Rodriguez and Liam Neeson in the lead roles. Four widows are all set to make some fortune. The only common thing among them- well all their husbands were criminals and are dead. Will they be able to achieve their dream?

9. Can You Ever Forgive Me?

A biographical drama, directed by Marielle Heller, the movie is based on a book by the celebrity biography writer Lee Israel. Israel had written the biographies of many stars like Katharine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, and Estee Lauder among others. But when it comes to a point where her writings are not getting sold, she starts to cheat. "Can you ever forgive me?" is expected to be one of the best movies next year. The movie would be released October this year.

10. Backseat

Starring Christian Bale in the lead role, it is a biographical movie on the 46th president of United States, Dick Cheney.
