The Bengali film industry has been creating buzz for decades. It has given us geniuses like Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak and Rituparno Ghosh. Bengali movies have crossed borders and oceans and their praises have been sung in foreign film festivals.
Here's a look at few of the Bengali movies you can't miss in 2018.

1. Uma

Director - Srijit Mukherji
Cast - Jisshu Sengupta, Sayantika Banerjee, Sara Sengupta and Anjan Dutt
Produced By - Shree Venkatesh Films
Inspired by the true events leading up to St. George's Evan Leversage's last Christmas celebration, this film is looking for a June 2018 release.
It will portray a beautiful father-daughter relationship. Keep it on your list for this will definitely tug at your heart strings.

2. Aami Ashbo Phirey

Director - Anjan Dutt
Cast - Anjan Dutt, Swastika Mukherjee and Kaushik Sen
Produced by - Shree Venkatesh Films
This time Anjan Dutt is back with four stories that cross paths as the result of a tragic event. From the trailer, Aami Ashbo Phirey looks like a complicated drama that you'd like to watch on a lazy Saturday afternoon.
Look out for this one on 27th April because it promises good music by Neel Dutt (Music Director) and great acting by the cast.

3. Drishtikon

Director - Kaushik Ganguly
Cast - Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Churni Ganguly and Kaushik Ganguly
After the successful chemistry in Praktan , Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta will come together again on the big screens in Drishtikon.
The story will follow the relationship between a lawyer and his client over a number of years. Now, about the story, the director hinted, "It’s about a lawyer (Prosenjit) and his client (Rituparna), who has to stay in touch for years, as a case drags on. So in this love story, we will see how their professional relationship turns personal over time. Churni (Ganguly) will be playing Bumbada’s wife."
This film is looking for an end of April release.

4. Basu Paribar

Director - Suman Ghosh
Cast - Soumitra Chatterjee, Aparna Sen, Jisshu Sengupta and Rituparna Sengupta
Riding the commercially successful wave of family films, this Suman Ghosh film will have Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen as an old couple, celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Though not a lot is disclosed about Basu Paribar, it still guarantees us an emotional watch. It's aiming for a June release.

5. Chowringhee

Director - Srijit Mukherji
Cast - Prosenjit Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee, Jaya Ahsan and Mamata Shankar
This film will be an adaptation of Mani Shankar Mukherjee's 1962 novel 'Chowringhee'.
It will be a contemporary take on the novel and NOT a remake of the 1968 film based on the same novel. ‘Chowringhee’ tells the story of myriad people of an upper class city hotel as seen by its receptionist.
With a stellar cast and a terrific story, this is sure to get you excited.
