Who doesn't like sitting back and enjoying a good-old Disney movie? They're not just the epitome of entertainment, packed with songs and wonderful visuals, they also deliver lessons that play on our heartstrings. There is no subject too deep for Disney to tackle: Death, family issues, heartbreak... did I mention death? Disney wanted you to be prepared for every harsh reality the world beyond your sit and spin could dish out. Here are some movies that we've learnt much from:

1. The Lion King

Lions, hyenas and the circle of life. The Lion King rules the animation world with a story that's fun and instructive. This is one movie that does not fail to impress no matter how many times I watch it. It tells us how we should be prepared to tackle unforseen circumstances as we step into this world. “Oh yes, the past can hurt. But from the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.” Rafiki

2. Tangled

While this is a new rendition of age-old Rapunzel, this movie is definitely more relatable. This flick teaches all of us to leave our comfort-zone and say 'yes' to something thats new, different. It's about taking control of our own lives. “All those days watching from the window, all those years outside looking in, all that time never even knowing just how blind I’ve been. And it’s like the fog has lifted, and at last I see the light. Rapunzel

3. Mulan

Mulan is as close to feminism that Disney will ever get. She does not fit the princess stereotype and yet teaches us so much. We learn that everything happens in its own time, and all we need to do is work towards our goal and remain patient. “The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.” Emperor of China

4. Ratatouille

Ratatouille had everything you'd want in a Disney movie and was not just light hearted but also taught us how little can go a long way. It taught us how to say 'no' and learn to stay with the outcome of our actions. “You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul.”Gusteau

5. Frozen

When we're discussing life-changing movies, Frozen cannot be left behind. When you’re growing up, other people’s expectations for you can really impact the way you think of yourself—just look at Elsa. The good news is that now you have the opportunity to take that preconceived idea of who you are and let it go. “Love is putting someone else’s needs before yours, like you know how Kristoff brought you back here to Hans and left you forever.”Olaf

6. The Princess and the Frog

Tiana’s story taught us that whatever your immediate goals are, you should always dig a little deeper. It taught us that as we go after the things we want, we must remember that we already have enough of what we need. “It serves me right for wishing on stars. The only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work.”Tiana

7. Beauty and the Beast

This movie delivered a lesson that is very necessary to accept in this day and age that - Beauty is only skin deep. As we're wading through life, there will probably be times when we feel like we're making it up as we go along, and that’s okay! Happily ever after is not a far-fetched notion! “But she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within.”Narrator
