10 Most Underrated Bollywood Movies of 2015

Every year Bollywood releases a numerous amount of movies. Some are good, some are terrible. And let's admit it, there are times when some bad movies do really good and some good movies are overlooked. Given below is a list of 10 underrated movies of 2015, that exceeded the expectations but didn't manage to get the audience it deserved.

1. Titli

Written and directed by Kanu Behl, this neo-noir focuses on the titular character Titli, the youngest member of a family of car-jackers, who desperately tries to esape from the family business. The movie is backed by YRF yet it does a great job of showing the life of crime that happens in the interiors of Delhi.

2. Talvar

Based on the infamous 2008 Noida double murder case, this Meghna Gulzar directed movie consists of a great story by Vishal Bharadwaj and great performances by Irrfan Khan and Konkona Sen Sharma.

3. Masaan

Masaan focuses on two seperate stories of Devi (Richa Chadda) and Deepak (Vicky Kaushal) and how they get connected at the end. The movie has received a lot of appreciation at various film festivals due to it's unique storytelling and the amazing performance by the lead actors.

4. Hunterrr

Yes the premise of the movie sounds bad and the trailer was also not really good. But this may be India's most mature sex comedy.The movie is based on the life and journey of Mandar, a sex-addict played by Gulshan Devaiah. Unlike all the other sex-comedies made in Bollywood at the moment, this movie doesn't go over-the-top and shows a pretty decent take on the life of a sex-crazed person.

5. Gour Hari Dastaan: The Freedom File

The movie is based on the life of an Oriya freedom fighter Gour Hari Das who fought for 32 years to prove his patriotic association to the country. The movie does have a lot of flaws but nevertheless does a great job in showing the flaws of the government and the society. Also Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen Sharma give some great performances.

6. Shamitabh

The Amitabh Bachchan-Dhanush starrer did create buzz at it's time but failed to manage any attention from the audience. But it did manage to please the critics who praised the satire and the performances by the two lead actors.

7. Margarita, with a Straw

Kalki Koechlin plays a teenager with cerebral palsy who realises later on that she is a bisexual, and she is incredible in it. The movie brilliantly depicts the struggles that the lead has to go through, both physically and emotionally and how she overcomes them with dignity in this changing society.

8. Manjhi The Mountain Man

Nawazuddin Siddiqui stars in this unbelievably incredible true story about a man who breaks a mountain. This is undoubtedly the most inspiring movie of 2015 and shows us the spirit of a common man, which was portrayed masterfully by the incredible Siddiqui.

9. Angry Indian Goddesses

Directed by Pan Nalin, this all-female buddy movie tackles a lot of social issues seen in the society, and does it in a fun way. The movie consists of strong performances by the lead, a lot of intense scenes alongwith heartwarming comedy.

10. Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost

Set in post-Partition India, Qissa is a tale of Kanwar (Tillotama Shome) ,a girl who was forced to live as a boy by his delusional father (Irrfan Khan) and how this brought a series of mishaps and tragedies in their lives. The movie is a masterpiece when it comes to parallel cinema and folktales. Irrfan Khan, once again impresses with his incredible performance.

11. Court

This critically acclaimed courtroom drama is about a social activist who uses folk music to spread awareness among people but then gets arrested and accused of killing a sewage worker. The film is a brilliant and intelligent take on legal dramas and a remarkable story of how people get caught in the complicated web of the justice system. The movie was also India's official submission to the Academy Awards.
