10 Highest Grossing Hollywood Films of 2017

2017 hadn’t been a great year for Hollywood. Starting from Weinstein to Kevin Spacey, the industry got a lot of criticism. Though the year had been dismal in general, some movies managed to make it to the mark. It was a year of Super Hero movies. Here is the list of movies that was the saving grace of 2017 as far as Hollywood is concerned:

10. Justice League

The second most expensive to be ever made, it is no wonder that Justice League made it to this list. This movie is the first installment in the DC extended universe. The film is directed by Zack Synder and produced by Charles Roven. It stars Ben Affleck, Henty Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa among others. Steppenwolf is back in the earth, the super heroes have to unite in order to protect us. Will they succeed? It made 648.8 million dollars at the box-office.

9. It

A supernatural horror film based on the 1986 Stephen King novel. The movie is directed by Andy Muschietti and stars Jaeden Lieberher and Bill Skarsgard. A group of kids is being haunted by a shape-shifting monster, which looks like a clown. The kids band together against it. A sequel to the movie is expected to be released on 2019. The box office collection went up to 698.1 million dollars.

8. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Captain Jack Sparrow is in the search for Poseidon’s Tridon, but he is chased by an undead captain and his crew. The fifth film in the Caribbean series the film made 794.8 million dollars at the box office. Directed by Jochim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, it stars Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem.

7. Logan

Logan is taking care of Professor X. He is planning to stay away from the outside world. Everything disrupts as he meets another mutant who is very similar to him. Logan is forced to fight for the girl. This James Mangold-directed film stars Hugh Jackman and Dafne Keen. It’s the tenth installment is X-men series and sadly the last in solo Wolverine series. It made 616.8 million dollars in the box office.

6. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians have unveiled the mystery behind Peter Quill's true parentage. They now have to struggle to keep their family together. It made a whopping 863 US dollars at the box office. The film was directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Prat and Zoe Saldana

5. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Happy with his Avenger experience, Peter Parker is back home. He has to go to school and at the same time manage his spider life. It is at the same time Vulture starts to prowl the Newyork city. Will Peter be able to save his identity while fighting with the vulture? The movie is directed by Jon Watts and stars Tom Holland as spiderman and Zendaya as Michelle. It made 880.2 million dollars in the theatre. A sequel is expected to be released in 2019.

4. Beauty and the Beast

Talented and pretty Belle is taken away by the beast. And as the old story goes a kind-hearted belle would befriend everyone in the castle and will finally fall for the beast, helping the beast gets converted to a prince. It is the 10th highest grossing films of all time and made 1.6 billion US Dollars at the Box office. Directed by Bill Condon, the film stars Emma Watson as beauty and Dan Stevens as the beast.

3. Despicable Me 3

The fourth highest grossing animated film of all time, Despicable me was directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda. Gru meets his twin brother Dru. Both of them come together for a criminal heist. Will they get caught? Watch the film to know more. Its box office collection was around1.03 billion US dollars.

2. The Fate of the Furious

Having the record of biggest worldwide film opening since 2002 and collecting 54 million US dollars on the very first day, the film by the end of it had a box office collection of 1.16 billion US Dollars. Directed by F Gary Gray, the film stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Charlize Theron. A mysterious woman seduces Dom, and the entire crew faces the consequences and their bond is tested like never before.

1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Directed by Rian Johnson, the last Jedi collected 934.3 million dollars from the box-office. The film starred Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher among others. Rey is in the venture of developing some new talents with the help of Luke Skywalker. Simultaneously the resistance is preparing for battle with the first order.
