Bollywood Actors And Films That Deserve To Win The Awards In 2016!

So 2016 comes to an end. And what a year it has been for Bollywood! Not only did movies like Sultan and Dangal earn big, but also films like Pink, डियर ज़िन्दगी and Neerja got huge critical acclaim and won our hearts! Here's the list of the films and actors who should win the awards this year.

Best Film - Airlift

Sorry Pink, Dangal or Udta Punjab. But this film is the best film of 2016. Releasing in the first quarter of 2016, this movie could have been easily written off. But, this Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur starrer is at the top of the list. The untold story of India’s biggest evacuation mission is worth appreciation, and all the awards this year. The film high on feels, is the best film of 2016.

Best Director - Abhishek Chaubey for Udta Punjab

While there were other films which were also equally good, this one stands out for its bold and brave approach. Abhishek’s masterpiece is not everyone’s cup of tea. It is about the harsh reality of Punjab, which is not at all easy to display on screen. Kudos to Abhishek!

Best Female Actor - Alia Bhatt for Udta Punjab

Alia is the best actor that emerged out of the bunch of newcomers. She had earlier proved her mettle with a powerful performance in Highway, and she definitely deserves this award for her terrific act in Udta Punjab.

Best Male Actor - Shah Rukh Khan for Fan

SRK in a double role is a treat to watch! This was his best performance in a film since My Name Is Khan. The way he portrays the superstar ‘Aryan Khanna’, as well as the fan who turns the antagonist is highly appreciable. Very few other actors could have acted the way he did. Definitely the most deserving actor of 2016!

Best Actor in A Negative Role - Tahir Raj Bhasin for फोर्स २

This innocent face has plenty inside to scare the hell out of you. After being applauded for his villainous act in Mardaani, Tahir packs a punch in Force 2. While actors like Jim Sarbh and Sudheer Babu were in contention for this award, Tahir’s deadly act in definitely the best of this year.

Best Actor in A Supporting Role (Female) - Shabana Azmi for Neerja

Her strong and powerful act in Neerja is really the most deserving one in this category.

Best Actor in A Supporting Role (Male) - Rishi Kapoor for Kapoor and Sons

Vicky Kaushal was in contention for this award. But, Rishi Kapoor’s act of ‘Dadu’ had a little edge over any other actor in this category. The way he nailed the role of a 90 year-old man to perfection, is highly recommendable. All hail the veteran!

Best Debut Director - Aniruddha Roy Chaudhury for Pink

Debuting in Bollywood with Amitabh Bachchan is not easy. But not only did his film fare well at the Box Office, but also got huge appreciation. Pink is one of the highest rated films of the year, if not the highest. Aniruddha has directed many movies in Bengali. But after the huge applause for Pink, he has a bright future in Bollywood.

Best Female Debut - Disha Patani for M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

This gorgeous lady has taken the Internet by a storm since her appearance in the film. Her smile is guaranteed to melt your heart. Her next movie is Kung Fu Yoga, which has Jackie Chan as the main lead, which definitely makes her the most promising newcomer this year. Way to go, Disha!

Best Male Debut - Harshvardhan Kapoor for Mirzya

Very few actors debuted this year and among them, Harshvardhan looks the most promising. Though the film got mixed reviews, his act was lauded.

Best Music - Pritam for ऐ दिल है मुश्किल

The most obvious award category this year. I mean, is there any other album which is better than ADHM? Hell no!

Best Female Playback Singer - Palak Mucchal for Kaun Tujhe from M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story

Palak Muchhal’s voice perfectly blends with the song, and is definitely among the best songs of this year. The way she puts her heart and soul into the song truly makes her the most deserving singer in this category.

Best Male Playback Singer - Arijit Singh for Channa Mereya from ऐ दिल है मुश्किल

Arijit Singh once again proves why he’s the best singer in Bollywood. He croons the track so beautifully, you just cannot resist from giving him this award. He completely deserves this!

Best Lyricist - Amitabh Bhattacharya for Channa Mereya from ऐ दिल है मुश्किल

Who can forget the song ‘Channa Mereya’? This beautiful song is surely going to strike a chord in your heart! Amitabh is immensely talented and is undoubtedly the best lyricist in India right now.

Best Dialogue - Pink

Pink has been all over the awards this year. Amitabh Bachchan delivers some of the most powerful dialogues this year. The dialogues in the movie are very relevant to the audience.

Best Screenplay - Pink

Aniruddha Roy Chaudhary’s perfect direction and precise screenplay keeps you engaged throughout the movie. Thanks to the brilliant screenplay, the film successfully compels you to think about the modern-day scenario of women in our country.

Best Cinematography - डियर ज़िन्दगी

Cinematographed by Laxman Utekar, Dear Zindagi is beautifully shot, and captures the free spirit of Goa wonderfully. The beach conversation between Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan is marvelous, and one of the highlights of the film. Also, Alia’s dream sequence is shot nicely. The brilliance of these shots make Laxman a deserving winner.

Best Story - Kapoor and Sons

The story is about two brothers, who return to their dysfunctional family after their grandfather suffers a cardiac arrest. Starring Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak, Rajat Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Fawad Khan and Siddharth Malhotra, this emotional ride was highly praised. This Shakun Batra directorial is one of the best films of 2016. The movie's story seems more realistic and appealable to the audience, and that's why I believe this film has the best story.
